Hello,
I would like to introduce you to my friend, Marc.
This is little Marc Antonio Duran .. with his Dad, Marcelo.
I took this picture last year when we were celebrating Marc's
very first birthday . . . He just turned 1 year old. We had
a party for him and he had a wonderful time.
I could not resist his laughter and that beautiful smile and
that's when I got out my camera. Marc had a lot of friends and
family stop by to wish him a Happy "first" Birthday.
When he started opening his presents, everyone clapped with
each new gift and Marc just had to join in. That was a lot of
fun for him. I hope I get invited to his second birthday party.
He has a lot to go through this week; he has already had his
chemo and radiation treatments. The bone-marrow transplant is
next. We are praying that he will make it. He is such a trooper
... I wonder if I could be as strong as he is.
His Mom and Dad learned just weeks before his birthday that
little Marc has leukemia. The type he has is very .. very rare.
He has A.L.L (Philadelphia Syndrome), the kind you get when
you are a sixty year old male. Not a little boy like Marc..
We started
the Click For The Cure program back in February 2003 and then
we registered the name on May 29th. of 2003. Now we have a project
and a goal for our name and a wonderful group to share it with.
The Jabboury Foundation.
We have lost family members and several friends to Cancer over
the past 5 years and thought is was time for us to get busy
and see if we could help. We did .. and we are.
Marilyn and I have contributed to several "cancer related"
fundraising projects across the country, projects including
St. Jude Children's Hospital and Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong
project and The MS 150 ride. We both have helped with several
local groups with their fundraising goals and other "out-of-state"
groups like The Sunflowers To Rose's Ride.
As of today, Sept. 9th,2008 we will be spending 100% of our
time working with the Click For The Cure project to help The
Jabboury Foundation with their fundraising projects.
We plan to introduce Marc to America. Send out a flyer to every
Cancer related program across the USA.
Then we will ask our Corvette friends that belong to the 2000
plus Corvette clubs across the country to make a $10.00 donation
to our Click For The Cure project.
